TAYLOR & PRECIOUS BABY SHEPARD

HOW DID YOU FIND KELLYE AND MILK & MOM?

I found Kellye through several friends who have had great experiences!

HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH MILK & MOM? SHARE YOUR STORY.

During pregnancy, I exuded confidence about breastfeeding. Surely it would come easy and natural for me, I thought, just have to want it bad enough and keep pushing through. My world changed December 24th 2022 when my son Shepard was born and I experienced an intense hemorrhage postpartum. My body has been depleted and was trying to replenish on top of healing and producing food for my baby. The first three weeks in my breast feeding journey were so lonely and hard. Something I thought would come so easy definitely did not and expectations were shattered! I was confused and unsure, second guessing everything and not understanding all the changes my body was going through. That is when I visited Kellye for the first time. I’ll never forget we were so late to our appointment because I hadn’t quite figured out how to get out of the house with a newborn, and she was incredibly gracious and understanding. Once we arrived I felt like I could breathe a sign of relief as she affirmed what we were doing right and gave us gentle tips on how to help. She listed to me as I shared my birth story and asked intentional questions about how I was doing emotionally! After that first appointment I knew I wanted to attend the weekly support group she hosts. That group has become my favorite part of the week! The mamas are amazing and it provides such a safe space to celebrate our victories and mourn our troubles. It has given me the strength to preserver through the difficulties of breastfeeding. Yes, Kellye has taught me so much about breastfeeding and lactation but more so, she has been a cheerleader in one of the most difficult seasons! Now my son and I have hit a stride with feeding and feel secure in our journey!

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL OTHER MOMS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING DIFFICULTY OR STRESS IN THEIR NURSING JOURNEY?

In stress or difficulty during breastfeeding I would tell other moms to find a support system. That has been crucial to our journey and pushing through the very heavy weight of feeding a whole human. Surround yourself with other moms and friends who encourage nursing and can reassure you when you question everything. I would also suggest finding a system that works best for you. Allow yourself the freedom to take a break when you need to, and cultivate around connecting with your baby rather than being successful. Also, consistency is key!

A note from Kellye: Let me know if you have any questions here! I am happy to help. Take a look at the next success story! MEGAN & PRECIOUS BABY COOPER
